Pinewood Derby Set-Up Volunteers Needed!
Great news! This year, we have access to the venue the night before, which gives us a big head start on set-up! Setup will begin at 6 pm on Friday, 2/6/26, at Swiss Park in Bonney Lake.
We still have several opportunities for families to help make our Pinewood Derby Race and Blue & Gold Banquet a success.
Every helping hand makes a difference. The more hands, the better! Thank you for supporting our Scouts and helping make this event special.
Thank you to everyone who has RSVP’d and shared the number of guests attending for Pinewood Derby and the Blue and Gold Banquet.
The Pack will be providing dinner for the Blue & Gold Banquet, including lasagna, bread, and Caesar salad, along with cakes and cupcakes for dessert. Beverages will also be provided.
Families are not required to bring food. However, if you would like to contribute snacks or light refreshments, you can do so on the sign-up.
Please note: we are purchasing food based on the RSVP count. If you do not RSVP, we cannot guarantee a plate will be available.
Thank you for helping us plan and for supporting a smooth and enjoyable evening for our Scouts!
A big thank you to the Telligman family for graciously hosting our 2026 Pinewood Derby Build Day!
🗓 Saturday, January 25
⏰ 12:00–3:00 PM
For the address, please message Arian directly or find it in the Band app under the event titled “PWD Build Day.”
We can’t wait to see what our Scouts create!
Pack 552 registered with the Puyallup Main Street Association to join the annual Santa Parade and we pulled it off beautifully!
A HUGE thank-you to the Hoey family for their incredible work organizing our float, securing the trailer and straw bales, and helping bring the whole vision together. We’re also grateful for every volunteer who showed up early to decorate, and to all of our Scouts and families who braved the weather to walk in the parade. It was a big effort, but absolutely worth it. Even in the downpour!
Looking ahead, we plan to form a parade float committee next summer so we can build strong, organized plans for future parade adventures.
If you have questions or ideas, please be sure to connect with us at one of our parent meetings. Thank you for helping make this such a memorable event!
Several of our Scouts and their families participated in Wreaths Across America this month, and we extend our sincere gratitude to everyone who took part in this meaningful event.
Our Scouts had the honor of laying wreaths on the graves of those who served our nation, an experience that was both humbling and impactful. Thank you to the families who joined us and helped carry out this important act of remembrance.
We are excited to share that our pack will be visiting the Life Care Center of Puyallup on December 21st at 2:00 PM to decorate cookies with residents. This is a wonderful opportunity for our Scouts to spread joy, practice service, and connect with members of our community.
A big thank-you to Tina Trentman, our Committee Chair, for organizing this meaningful event for our pack.
Our winter pack activity is scheduled for December 27th at 6:00 PM at Point Defiance for Zoo Lights! We shared a poll on BAND, and this date worked best for the majority of families who plan to attend. We’re excited for a festive evening together! If you have any pack activity ideas for the remainder of the Scouting year, or even looking ahead, please reach out. The more parent involvement we have, the stronger our pack becomes!
Our Bears had an exciting and meaningful month! They had the privilege of learning firsthand how to start a nonprofit from Ava Howland, who shared her journey and the impact of Empower Her Care Kits.
The Bears also completed an important piece of their advancement by learning how to properly fold, handle, and care for the United States flag. With support from Troop DXVI, they practiced participating in a flag ceremony, explored the history of the flag, and learned key points of flag etiquette.
Well done, Bears!
Join us with your cub to walk or ride in the parade. We meet at Our Savior Lutheran Church. 720 W Main. We will meet in the church parking lot around 3:30 and line up at 4:10. The city is really looking for this to be lighted event and is encouraging all participants to be well lit so there is more Wow factor. We will have light up necklaces, lighted fishing poles and various festive hats and headbands the cubs can choose from to wear.
We are in group B., spot #57
Parade instructions below:
Group B – middle of the parade. You need to arrive in your assigned staging areas by 4:10 pm
STAGING AREAS: When you arrive, Kiwanis volunteers in orange vests will help you find your exact staging area. If you are NOT assigned to stage on Meridian, you must arrive in your staging area without using Meridian. Arrive from the south, east, or west, not from the north.
West Main Avenue Staging: between Meridian and 5th Street SW area contains most parade units where there is a combination of vehicles and pedestrians. Participants are encouraged to gather at some site far from the parade route and then arrive as a group. Many participants find a place to gather near Puyallup High or near the Fairgrounds.
Please note that dues were due on November 17th. If you haven’t had a chance to submit them yet, we kindly ask that you set up a payment arrangement before any additional rewards or advancements can be provided.
Dues help cover important items for our Scouts, including belt loops, pins, patches, and Pinewood Derby car kits. Thank you for helping us keep the program running smoothly for all our families!
We had a handful of scouts from Pack 552 at the Cub Scouts Day Hike at Camp Thunderbird on Saturday! Scouts and their families rotated through several hands-on stations, where they learned about poisonous plants, edible plants, the six essentials of outdoor survival, proper hiking attire, the importance of buddy teams, key outdoor safety rules, and more.
One of the highlights was seeing our Scouts draw pictures of their favorite part of the hike—such a fun way to reflect on their adventure
Our Pack Class B uniforms are ready for pick-up! Madi will begin sorting them, and she could use a little help on Monday to get everything organized. If families are able to help with organizing Class B’s on Monday, please coordinate with Madi—either through Band or in person on Monday, so we can distribute everything efficiently. A big thanks to Madi for coordinating all the details.
Ariane shared that wreaths will arrive at her home on Wednesday, 11/26, and she will send out a message that day with the specific pickup window for families to come by and collect their orders.
Please note that she does not have the space or ability to store or care for items, so timely pickup and coordination are greatly appreciated.
Thank you!
Two quick polls will be coming to BAND this week!
Poll #1 – Winter Pack Activity
At our last parent meeting, we talked about doing a Pack outing before winter break. We’ll be voting on ZooLights dates, so keep an eye out and be sure to participate!
Poll #2 – Summer Camp Thunderbird
It’s already time to start thinking about Camp Thunderbird 2026. The theme this year is “Spy Academy”! Last summer we had an amazing turnout with so many Scouts and families attending together. Let’s try to coordinate dates again so we can keep that momentum going.
Here are the 2026 session options:

Session 2: July 16–19, 2026
Session 3: July 23–26, 2026
Session 4: July 30–August 2, 2026
Our pack will be joining the community for National Wreaths Across America Day to help honor and remember our veterans. This event is a wonderful way for Scouts and families to show respect and gratitude for those who have served.

Good news! Fundraising incentives are back this year! We appreciate everyone’s patience and understanding as we’ve worked through the logistics of fundraising this season. Your support means a lot, and we’re grateful for your continued commitment to making our pack the best it can be.
Here’s how the incentives will work:
If your Scout sells $500 worth of product, your pack dues will be reduced to $75 (normally $150).
If your Scout sells $1,000 worth of product, your pack dues will be fully covered for the year!
Already paid your dues? No problem! If your Scout reaches either fundraising goal, we’ll gladly refund the dues you’ve already paid.
Thanks again for your patience, flexibility, and open communication. We’re looking forward to a great year together!
Happy selling!
